Signs From Above

Signs! Could it be? Is that Them? Am I crazy? 

These are just some of the questions we ask when we think our loved ones and Spirit Guides are trying to communicate with us. You see, most of us, if not all, need grand gestures in order to accept that the other side is really here and communicating with us. We write off their signs as coincidences or we will rationalize why something has happened. Most of us have an easier time accepting that our loved ones are truly communicating with us when we go see a psychic medium.We make appointments with them and we hope that the validations that come through are precise and clear enough in order for us to believe that They are really here! Often the medium will tell you signs to watch for that are coming from the other side, and yet, we still second guess when we receive them. So what do we do? We call the medium again! The question then becomes, what is our alternative, being that most of us don’t have a medium “on hand” to call up at any point and ask if they can connect with our loved ones and Guides. What should we look out for? How do we know it’s really Them? 

See, our loved ones and Guides have to work really hard in order to send us a sign. Our “job” is to get out of our logical mindset and maybe entertain the idea that Spirit is around. Let’s start out with some “obvious” signs… Dreams! Now, I say this with caution, because not everyone will remember their dreams, and many get really upset if this is not the sign that Spirit uses to communicate. Hopefully, this blog will help you realize that this is just one way to hear from your loved ones. For those of us who are able to get visits through our dreams, I have found that these dreams are a little different than your “average” dream. Oftentimes, what will happen is that you will dream of Spirit, and you will wake up as soon as the dream is over. This also tends to make many upset, because they just want to get back to sleep and continue the dream. What we must understand is that by waking us up suddenly, it assures that we will remember the dream. Dreaming of loved ones can be hard at times, too. Many feel like they are losing their loved ones once again when they wake up. Therefore, Spirit is very careful with how often this happens, who comes through, and when it happens.

Let’s say you are one of many people who aren’t visited in their dreams by Spirit, what should you watch out for? For starters, if you have gone to a medium and they have told you to watch out for “this,” trust it! I have given two readings in the last couple of years where feathers were the sign that Spirit chose to ask the sitters to watch out for. Feathers are a common sign from spirit because it is something that is light and easy to manipulate. Nonetheless, they are a sign and if Spirit has chosen to use it to communicate, it doesn’t mean that it is not special. As the medium, it was interesting for me to see how both sitters reacted afterwards when they did indeed get the signs. 

Starting with the first sitter, when I told her she just said “ok, I will be on the lookout!” A couple of days later, she and I were together again, and a woman walked in with leggings that had this huge silver and white feather design. I stopped and smiled, looked at the person who I had read a couple of days before, and she saw it! She looked and smiled and nodded at me. We both knew it was validation from her father! It was a really cool thing to experience. Later that same week I got a phone call from her. She was on the phone with her husband and she hadn’t yet told him about the reading, and he said out of nowhere “I don’t know where all these feathers are now coming from. They are all over our bed. We never had issues like this before with these pillows and blankets.” She said she again smiled and told her husband about the reading. She thanked me and I was glad that her dad was finally able to connect with her in a way that she understood. Not everyone reacts like this.

The second sitter got the same message but from her uncle and she told her new boyfriend about it…. A couple of months ago, I was with her and I pointed out a feather to her. She stopped and looked at me and said “ I was with my boyfriend yesterday and there was a feather in the very middle of my bed. I made a comment to him about the sign, and he looked at me and said you have a feather pillow, it’s not a sign.” What intrigues me about this interaction is that she believed that it was a sign until someone pointed out that there could be another explanation for it. There can always be another explanation for many things. I won’t argue that you will have a higher chance of seeing feathers in your room if you have a feather pillow or blanket; however, Spirit knows that, and they will use the easiest form to communicate with you. It is easier for them to manipulate a feather in your own room than it is for them to drop a coin in your room if you never use cash. Now, because she doubted that interaction from Spirit, the next day she got another sign -- a feather in front of me! This made her open up and allowed me to explain to her the exact thing that I’m typing right now. With that being said, I’m not perfect, and I too make my loved ones and Guides work extremely hard in order to send me messages that I will actually acknowledge!  

There are several signs from many loved ones for me, as well as from my Spirit Guides… We all have both with us. The first time I heard about these signs was during my own reading. The medium told me to look out for hearts and roses and that it was going to be coming from my grandmother. I didn’t really know what that meant, but I was like “ok!” The next several days I started seeing hearts everywhere! -- in the details of houses and on clothing that those around me were wearing. But after a little while, those hearts slowly started to “disappear” or I became less sensitive to seeing them. By that point I was already studying mediumship, and I knew that it didn’t mean that my grandmother was no longer around. In actuality, my classmates and I often had to practice reading each other and my grandmother was always one of the first people to pop in and say hi! As of late, and one of the reasons why I’m writing this, she started showing me signs again. It started with dreams of her, my grandfather talking about her, then people sending me old videos of her randomly, and again, the hearts! Hearts, hearts everywhere… honestly, hearts came up before all of this again now that I think about it, and in a very personal way…. Which intrigues me! Anyway, even now, as I write this, I looked up and saw that there is a heart design on the plate on the door in my new living room. I have never noticed it before, and frankly, today is the first day I have spent any time sitting in this room since I moved in. I also looked over to my right and saw that the tray that I have stared at for days now has heart shaped handles… Coincidence? One may say so, but I don’t believe it is! I believe she is here with me and wanted me to write this!

In addition to my grandmother sending me signs as I sit here writing, I do believe Spirit has sent me signs too... I tend to lose myself when I’m writing, and I rarely get up to do anything once I start. Well, today, I did get up to go warm up my tea…. When I got up, I saw that it was 12:12… This made me realize that I had almost forgotten one of the most used signs…. Numbers!!! So, I laughed and thanked Them for the reminder! For me, number signs come from my Guides and not loved ones. The synchronicity in them is what makes sense to me. Ever since I moved to the United States I saw the number 111 everywhere! It was like that for a very long time… with time the numbers did change. Today, a big one for me is 1155. For me, it is just a reminder that I’m not alone and a feeling of security comes over me when I look at a clock, or a license plate, a bill at the grocery store or even someone’s address and I see that the numbers are synchronized. However, I have given a reading to someone, and his father chatted with us. He told me to let his son know that when he sees synchronized numbers like that, it is him talking. What I didn’t know is that earlier that day the sitter had been arranging baseball cards and thinking of his dad, and he was putting them in numerical order… Again this was Spirit choosing an easy way to communicate with the sitter and show him that the signs will continue. 

There are so many signs and everyone will have a different experience. Birds, butterflies, dragonflies are often signs as well. It is incredible to me how my Guides and loved ones work to show me that indeed they are around. We all know that owls are nocturnal birds and that it is unusual to see them out and about during the day. I will never forget when I was driving to work one day, and I wasn’t myself. I had been having a really hard few weeks, if not months, and I asked for signs! I was sent crows at first, they were everywhere…. But I started to second guess that they were really for me, and that it wasn’t just a coincidence…. Spirit knows me, and knows that sometimes I too need to be hit in the face with a sign, especially when I’m in a funk! What did They do?… they put an owl on top of a lamp post in the middle of the day in the middle of a busy highway! I will never forget that day! I remember spotting the owl, driving closer to it with my mouth open thinking “can this be?!” Indeed it was… a grown owl! I kept my eyes on that owl for as long as I could, I watched it on my review mirror after I drove by in disbelief. I remember taking a deep breath and saying “ok, I get it! You guys have me! Thank you!” I told everyone at work that day that I had seen an owl on my drive. Everyone’s reaction was the same…. “No way! You must have seen a different bird…. No way!” I know what I saw was definitely an owl. Since that day, owls have shown themselves to me often. Sometimes it’s in a drawing format, or someone will buy me something that has an owl on it, or I will hear one outside the window when I’m in bed. Today, I know that crows are my sign too and I do accept it, but owls always show up when I have big changes happening in my life. For that, I’m thankful! Fun fact: a barn owl is recognized by their heart shaped face! Coincidence? Perhaps! --… but maybe not!

The easiest signs I find that people think are coincidences have to do with music, electronics and electricity. I too have a hard time with these signs, especially because I’m a ballroom dance teacher, and I listen to music everyday all day long! However, sometimes things happen and it becomes clear that it is a sign. One day I was at work, it was a really late night, and I was the only left in the studio. I was upfront doing some paperwork, and I had left music playing in the ballroom. I do have to say that by this point I was “off the clock” so I was also chatting with someone on facebook messenger. She and I were talking about how she saw that I was a medium and that her and her family are believers. As we were talking, we started chatting about her daughter who was a friend of mine in high school and who we lost due to a car crash. I have always associated a particular song with her, and as we were talking the song came on in the ballroom. I immediately jumped up and went to the ballroom with goosebumps and admittedly, tears in my eyes. Not only was her song playing and I was chatting with her mom, which I should disclose that I hadn’t done in over 9 years, but the computer read that a completely different song was actually on! I could not believe it! Yes, I am a medium, and I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears... I was shocked! I stood in the ballroom looking at the computer for what felt like an eternity. I felt like no one would ever believe me if I told the story, and I felt like her mom would even think that I was making it up… so I pulled out my phone and I recorded what was happening. I knew she was there! Her mom of course believed me and informed me that it was a typical thing for my friend to do. My friend had always been a jokester, why would it change now?! This was a very obvious example that she was present; however, sometimes, the sign is subtle. During a reading, I told one of my clients that her aunt wanted to talk about the song that she heard in her car recently. Apparently, my client had been sitting in her driveway a few days before listening to a song that came on the radio as she pulled into her house. The song reminded her of her aunt and she had already booked the session with me at that point. When I told my client about the song and that her aunt does that often, she looked shocked and content! Sometimes that is all that it takes. You will be thinking of a loved one and that same day or a couple of days later they will make sure you hear a song that makes you think of them. 

There are many signs that can be given to us by Spirit: lights flickering, technology malfunctioning, dreams, feathers, animals, numbers, music, etc…. The important thing to realize, is that Spirit is doing what They can to show us that we are never alone. These signs are here to indicate that we are on the path that we should be on. Sometimes you will see a lot more signs near a birthday, anniversary or life transition. The more open you are, and the more you pay attention, you will start to see that signs are everywhere and they are a part of our everyday life. You can have fun with Spirit and thank them every time you notice a sign. And if for some reason you see a sign and you second guess it, realize that it has made you think of a loved one and that is the “sign”! Which means you have called on them, so most likely, they came to you anyway. Be present. Be open minded. Wonderful messages can come to you.
